Salary ranges from $26.70 to $40.05 per hour

- Plan, assign, direct, supervise and coordinate inmate worker tasks, assignments, and schedules. Evaluate inmate workers performance, necessary training and the final work product. Supervise and direct Inmate Worker Crews engaged in completion of work assignments in several areas of operation located in and around the Sheriff’s complex as well as community projects as directed. Provide leadership by solving inmate worker disputes, assigning jobs, and issuing proper safety equipment and clothing. Provide informal counseling, conduct inmate escorting tasks, provide meals and breaks for inmate workers. Determine what safety equipment is needed. Provide mandated on the job training to inmate workers enabling the successful completion of all work assignments. Provide remedial training when needed and recommend the discipline and/or discharge of incompetent workers. Constantly evaluate the work product and determine what training is required to successfully complete daily work assignments. Provide and document all training and work performance completed in the work unit.
- Research products to use at the most cost-effective price needed in completing work assignments. Determine what statistical data needs to be updated, saved and filed in accordance with department policies and the American Correctional Association standards. Perform administrative functions: update Inmate Worker computer reports; respond to daily email and phone communications. Update daily inmate worker line inspection reports, daily chemical, tool, and equipment inventories. Correct inspection report deficiencies and update inmate worker training files. Document completed work assignments and capture unit statistical information for the Unit Monthly report. Conduct product research and obtain needed supplies and equipment in the work unit.
- Attend vendor meetings, meeting with co-workers, supervisors, training seminars and classes, and unit meetings.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred - 1 year of supervisory experience.
Preferred - experience in commercial or industrial laundry operations, landscape maintenance and/or custodial service work.
