Reggie Marinelli

First Female Sheriff of Jefferson County

Sheriff Reggie Marinelli was sworn in as the 28th Sheriff of Jefferson County on January 10, 2023, making history as the first woman to hold this position. With over 36 years of dedicated service to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Marinelli brings extensive experience and leadership to the role.

Sheriff Marinelli earned her bachelor's degree from Metro State University Denver, graduating Summa Cum Laude with Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society recognition, and completed coursework in the MBA program at American Military University. Throughout her career, she has held supervisory roles in every division of the Sheriff's Office — Patrol, Detentions, Investigations, and Support Services. She served as commander of the West Metro Drug Task Force from 2012 to 2015, supervising task force members from six local law enforcement agencies. She was also a law enforcement academy instructor for more than 20 years.

Sheriff Marinelli has played a significant role in developing alternative housing units in the jail and evidence-based programming designed to reduce recidivism. As fire warden for Jefferson County, she has worked to bring wildfire prevention agencies together for a more comprehensive approach to preparation, prevention, and communication across agencies.

Undersheriff

Mike Prange

Undersheriff Mike Prange is a thirty-plus-year veteran of law enforcement, serving most of that time serving the citizens of Jefferson County. He holds a master's degree in organizational management, and his undergraduate work was in computer information systems management. He has extensive managerial experience in detention and patrol operations, criminal investigations, recruitment, and training. As a manager in these areas, his experience extends to policy development, procedural effectiveness, training course development, internal investigations, business audits, the creation of accountability models, compliance with accreditation standards, and other laws and regulations.

Mike is recognized for his dedication to delivering high-quality, effective service and for fostering strong connections with residents and governmental partners. His leadership is grounded in integrity, collaboration, and transparency, and he is a passionate advocate for officer safety and overall well-being.

Mike is a veteran of the United States Air Force, which provided him a strong foundation for leadership and his commitment to service. He continues to enhance his leadership and is passionate about sharing his knowledge with others through teaching, mentoring, and coaching.
