Privacy Policy

Last updated: February 2026

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office respects your privacy. This page explains what we collect and how we use it.

What We Collect

When You Contact Us

If you submit a form or send us a message, we collect your name, contact information, and the content of your message. We use this to respond to you.

When You Visit

We collect anonymized data to improve website performance:

  • Pages visited (no personal identifiers)
  • Page load times and performance metrics
  • Browser and device type

This data cannot identify you personally. We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights for this purpose.

When You Watch Videos

Some pages include videos hosted by Mux. When you play a video, Mux collects viewing data like play time and video quality. See Mux's privacy policy for details.

When You Use Interactive Maps

Some pages include interactive maps powered by Esri's ArcGIS platform. When you view a map, your browser loads basemap tiles from Esri's servers and public geographic data from Jefferson County GIS servers. No personal information is sent to these services beyond standard connection metadata (such as your IP address and browser type). No login or API key is required. See Esri's privacy policy for details.

Error Reporting and Performance

We use Sentry to monitor website errors and performance. When an error occurs or during routine performance monitoring, Sentry collects:

  • Error details and stack traces
  • Browser and device type
  • Page performance metrics

Sentry may also record anonymized session replays for debugging purposes. All visible text is masked in these recordings to protect your privacy. No personally identifiable information is collected. See Sentry's privacy policy for details.

What We Don't Collect

We don't use advertising cookies. We don't use Google Analytics. We don't track you across websites.

Our homepage shows posts from our X (Twitter) account. We fetch this data on our server—no Twitter code runs in your browser. Twitter learns nothing about your visit unless you click through to X.com.

Public Records

As a government agency, information you submit to us may become a public record under the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA).

Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information. No internet transmission is completely secure.

Children

This website is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.

Changes

We update this policy as needed. Changes appear on this page with a new date.
