The Grants Specialist is responsible for researching local, state, Federal, private and non-profit grant funding opportunities in support of various Jefferson County projects and programs Assist in the preparation of grant applications. Assist in the preparation of plans, reports and supporting documentation. Assist in preparation and administration of grant budgets.

  • Perform research and administration in support of Federal, state and local grants. Assist in the preparation of state and Federal grant applications. Assist in the preparation and administration of Federal, state and local grant budgets which includes but is not limited to: preparation of briefing papers, agenda memos, manuals, contracts, quarterly reporting requirements, purchase of service agreements, memorandums of understanding, compliance and obtaining approvals for execution.
  • Perform administrative duties and compile data for special projects or reports. Ensure completion by specified deadlines and in accordance with established goals and objectives.
  • Perform a variety of administrative duties, including assisting in the preparation of department and division budgets, plans, and reports. Represent the department at meetings.
  • Serve as liaison between county and community organizations, service providers, government agencies and citizens regarding grant programs.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

In this position it will be necessary to demonstrate proficiency in the following:

Proficiency in financial management, budget oversight, and grant writing.

  • Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.

  • Problem solving skills to effectively manage challenges related to grant implementation, tracking, procurement, and reporting.

  • Thorough understanding of 2 CFR 200 compliance and reporting requirements, ensuring adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and funder guidelines.

This position will support the newly established Wildland Fire Management Program.

Preferred - Experience in grant administration.
