Unincorporated Jefferson County Only
Jefferson County Animal Control provides services to unincorporated Jefferson County only. The cities of Arvada, Edgewater, Lakewood, Morrison, Mountain View, Wheat Ridge, and Westminster provide Animal Control services through their respective police departments.
As a general rule, if your city or town has a mayor or its own police department, we do not provide services there. If you are unsure whether you are in unincorporated Jefferson County, search your address in the Jefferson County Address Lookup Tool.
About Animal Control
Jefferson County Animal Control is a unit of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Animal Control Officers enforce all county ordinances and state statutes related to animals. Our officers are highly trained and experienced professionals, with regionally and nationally recognized training and certifications. Animal Control Officers are designated as Peace Officers under Colorado Revised Statutes 30-15-105, 30-15-402.5, and 30-42-107.

Animal Control Officers work seven days a week, 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM. At night and on county holidays, officers are dispatched through Jeffcom on an emergency basis only.
