Arrests Made in Fatal Shooting Investigation
Jefferson County, CO. – Two suspects were arrested on July 29, for their involvement in the July 25 shooting death of 23-year-old Andrew Bott.
Investigators identified Steven Simpson (dob 8/9/00) as the driver, and Corryn Simpson (dob 7/22/00) as the passenger of a white BMW involved in a driving altercation with a blue Ford truck which originated near W. Belleview Ave. and S. Santa Fe Dr. in the City of Littleton.
According to the arrest warrant affidavits, Corryn called Littleton Police at 10:28 p.m. on July 25 to report that a blue Ford truck had struck their white BMW and fled; the BMW followed the truck while talking to dispatch on the phone. Although the dispatcher instructed them to stop pursuing the truck, they continued to follow it. During the 911 call, Steven is heard making a threatening statement, followed shortly afterward by the sound of two gunshots.
At 10:32 p.m., the driver of the blue Ford truck called Jeffcom 911 to report that someone fired shots at his vehicle, striking passenger Andrew Bott in the head. Bott later died at the hospital.
Steven Simpson is being held on charges of first-degree murder. His wife, Corryn Simpson, is being held on charges of accessory to a crime.
The charges are merely legal allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent of the charges against them unless and until they are proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
