JCSO Investigating Homicide Following Incident That Began in Littleton
Investigators Seeking Witnesses and Camera Footage
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting that appears to have stemmed from a hit-and-run and subsequent altercation that began in Littleton on Saturday night, July 25, 2026.
The incident began around 10:28 p.m., when Littleton Police responded to a hit-and-run crash near S. Santa Fe Dr. and W. Belleview Avenue. According to officers, a blue Ford F-150 struck a couple of vehicles and fled the scene.
One of the victims, driving a white BMW SUV, called Littleton Police and reported that he was following the fleeing Ford truck. According to Littleton Police, the BMW driver was instructed to stop following the vehicle. Littleton Police subsequently issued a BOLO (Be on the Lookout) for the Ford truck.
Approximately four minutes later, at 10:32 p.m., Jeffco deputies responded to a report of a shooting. The driver of a blue Ford F-150 reported that someone fired shots at his truck, striking the male passenger. The driver pulled into the parking lot of Columbine High School, located at 6201 S. Pierce St., where deputies arrived and immediately began lifesaving efforts on the victim. The victim sustained a gunshot wound to the head, was transported to a local hospital and later died from his injuries.
Investigators believe the shooting occurred near Grant Ranch Blvd. and W. Bowles Avenue. The JCSO is asking anyone who traveled along W. Bowles Ave. between S. Santa Fe Dr. and Grant Ranch Blvd. between 10:25 p.m. and 10:35 p.m., on Saturday night to contact investigators if they witnessed the incident or have dash camera footage. Residents and businesses along that same corridor are also encouraged to review surveillance videos that may have captured the vehicles involved or any portion of the incident.
This evening, JCSO investigators executed a search warrant at a home in Highlands Ranch where two individuals were contacted and taken to headquarters to be interviewed - both were eventually released pending further investigation.
