JCSO Searching for Suspect in Road Rage Shooting
Jefferson County, CO- The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a road rage shooting that injured a man in his 70s just after 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2026.
The JCSO learned of the shooting after staff at Lutheran Hospital reported that the man arrived at the emergency department with a gunshot wound.
The victim told investigators that he and his wife were returning home to Arvada from a friend’s house in Golden when they had an altercation with the driver of a red car. The encounter occurred as they were heading from Colfax Avenue onto the eastbound I-70 on-ramp. According to the victim, the suspect then pulled behind their vehicle and fired multiple rounds.
The victim’s vehicle was struck by five bullets. One traveled through the vehicle and the driver’s seat, striking the victim in the back. Despite his injury, he was able to drive to the hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening. His wife, who was in the passenger seat, was not injured.
Investigators have limited information about the suspect’s vehicle, which is described as a red four-door sedan. They are working to locate and review surveillance footage from the area to identify the suspect vehicle.
