Sheriff Marinelli, Rep. Story, Boulder DA Dougherty, and Evergreen/Conifer communities Urge Governor Polis to Sign HB26-1255

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. - Jefferson County Sheriff Reggie Marinelli, Colorado State Representative Tammy Story, and Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty will join the Evergreen PTA, Stand Evergreen, public safety partners, and the Evergreen/Conifer communities at a press conference and rally urging Governor Jared Polis to sign HB26-1255. This is a bipartisan public safety bill aimed at strengthening social media platform threat reporting and search warrant response time.

HB26-1255 would require qualifying social media platforms to respond to certain law enforcement warrants within 24 hours, and report specific, imminent threats when a platform has already flagged content involving threats of harm. Holding social media platforms to tighter deadlines and increased accountability will provide law enforcement more time to intervene, interrupt, or disrupt violent acts before they happen. This policy is about protecting communities and saving lives.

Community members are encouraged to attend and stand with local leaders, calling for faster action when lives may be at risk. The Honorable Governor Jared Polis has been invited to attend, and it is our hope that together, we can build a safer future.
