Community Rally for Public Safety Still Happening Tonight

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. - Last night, Governor Jared Polis vetoed HB26-1255. While that changes the purpose of tonight’s gathering, it does not change why this issue matters.

A credible threat online can become a real-world emergency fast. HB26-1255 was intended to help close that time gap by requiring faster responses to certain law enforcement warrants and requiring reporting when platforms had already flagged specific, imminent threats.

Tonight’s rally will now be an opportunity for community members, public safety leaders, elected officials, families, and advocates to stand together in solidarity and reaffirm their commitment to finding solutions that help keep our communities safe.

Sheriff Reggie Marinelli, Rep. Tammy Story, Boulder District Attorney Michael Dougherty, the Evergreen PTA, Stand Evergreen, public safety partners, and members of the Evergreen/Conifer community will gather to thank supporters, speak about the importance of this issue, and share their commitment to continuing the work.

WHAT: Press conference and community rally in support of safer communities following the veto of HB26-1255
WHEN: Friday, May 29, 2026, at 5 p.m.
WHERE: American Legion Memorial Site, Buchanan Park, Evergreen Parkway & Ellingwood Trail, Evergreen

Media and community members are encouraged to attend.

HB26-1255 was vetoed, but our commitment to this community was not. Please join us as we stand together.
