Safely dispose of unwanted ammunition at one of our three precincts.

Overview

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office accepts unwanted ammunition from county residents for safe disposal. Bringing old or unused ammunition to one of our precincts keeps it out of the trash and away from people who shouldn't have it.

This service is offered free of charge. There is no need to schedule an appointment — stop by during business hours and a deputy will assist you.

What to Know Before You Come

  • Jefferson County residents only

    This service is reserved for Jefferson County residents. A valid photo ID showing a Jefferson County address is required at drop-off.

  • Business hours

    Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed weekends and holidays.
