Overview

About 70 percent of graffiti in Jefferson County is tagging that is not gang related. The Sheriff's Office treats graffiti as both a crime and a quality-of-life concern. They document incidents to identify taggers and analyze whether activity indicates gang involvement.

How to Report Graffiti

    A crime scene technician will photograph the graffiti for identification and analysis purposes.

    Property Owner Removes Graffiti

    After the graffiti has been photographed and documented, property owners are responsible for painting over the markings promptly to prevent escalating tag wars in the area.
