Vanity line 1-800 RED CROSS. Provides immediate disaster relief to anyone affected by a disaster, regardless of residency status or income. Help includes food; shelter (hotels for single-family fires, ARC shelters for larger multi-unit fires); clothing, shoes, winter clothes, infant formula and supplies; health services (replacing medications and medical equipment such as glasses, walkers, wheelchairs); and licensed mental health services. Also provides snacks, drinks and meals for emergency workers. All assistance is free; a congressionally chartered 501(c)(3) non-profit, not government-funded.
