The Civil Unit serves legal documents and enforces court orders throughout Jefferson County.
About Civil Process
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Civil Unit is responsible for serving civil process documents and enforcing court orders. We serve documents throughout Jefferson County in accordance with Colorado law and the Colorado Rules of Civil Procedure.
All documents must be filed with our office before service can be attempted. Service is typically completed within 5-7 business days, though this may vary based on workload and the ability to locate the individual to be served.

Required for All Submissions
- Original documents (plus one copy for our files)
- Complete service address for the person to be served
- Payment for service fees
- Self-addressed stamped envelope (for return of proof of service)
