Information about sex offender registration requirements, schedules, and compliance in Jefferson County.

Failure to register is a criminal offense.

Sex offenders are required by Colorado law to register and keep their information current. Non-compliance can result in felony charges.

About Sex Offender Registration

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office maintains the Sex Offender Registry for individuals convicted of sexual offenses who live, work, or attend school in Jefferson County. Registration is required under the Colorado Sex Offender Registration Act (SORA).

All registered sex offenders must report to the Sheriff's Office periodically based on their classification level and must update their information whenever it changes.

Registration Schedule

How often you must register depends on your classification:

  • Quarterly
    Sexually Violent Predators (SVP) must register every 90 days
  • Annually
    Most registered sex offenders must register once per year, within 5 days of their birthday

Information You Must Provide

  • Current residential address
  • Employment information
  • Vehicle information
  • School enrollment (if applicable)
  • Internet identifiers and email addresses
  • Phone numbers
  • Physical description and current photograph
  • Temporary lodging (travel over 14 days)

Changes Must Be Reported

You must report any changes to the following within 5 business days:

  • Address change (including temporary residence)
  • Employment change
  • Vehicle changes (new, sold, or additional)
  • School enrollment changes
  • Legal name changes

How to Register

By Appointment Only

Sex offender registration is by appointment only. Call or book online to schedule your registration appointment. Walk-ins cannot be accommodated.

What to Bring

  • Valid government-issued photo identification
  • Proof of current address (utility bill, lease, etc.)
  • Vehicle registration for all vehicles you own or operate
  • Employment information (employer name, address, phone)
  • Registration fee — Initial registration: $50 | Re-registration: $25

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation maintains a public database of registered sex offenders. Community members can search this database to identify sex offenders in their area.
